Through six key areas, this program guides you in creating culturally safe, welcoming, and responsive environments for children, families, and communities.

  1. Key 1: Knowledge - We will explore the principles and practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework, My Place, Our Time, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, and Foundations for Success
  2. Key 2: Engagement - focuses on genuine engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to ensure authentic, culturally relevant, and respectful program delivery, including play and learning environments.
  3. Key 3: Innovative Partnerships – We discuss the implementation of innovative partnership models that enhance collaboration across the local community.
  4. Key 4: Sustainability – We address the implementation of sustainable cultural practices that embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into teacher decision-making and quality improvement processes, specifically in program planning across all areas of learning and development.
  5. Key 5: Development – We focus on the professional accountability of Directors/Nominated Supervisors,
  6. Educational Leaders, and educators to foster their team’s cultural capability and advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in early childhood education and care (ECEC) programs.
