Being Brave to Make Real Change
May 30, 2022In the last couple of years we have witnessed educators move from doing nothing in case they offend, to being cautious not to get it wrong, to this year Being Brave to Make Real Change when it comes to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their practice.
We have enjoyed watching the conversations on our Facebook pages and have loved seeing the beautiful creativity in the way that Educators are presenting their creations and showcasing the way that they are embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into their programs.
Connecting the Dots through Culture came about because we knew that educators, service providers and families wanted to know about culture but they didn’t know how to connect the dots. So here we are, we are happy to say that every day we see educators and service providers step out of their comfort zones to show that they are brave enough to change the narrative when it comes to embedding culture into their practice. Educators are showing us that they are brave enough to invite families along on the journey because they are realising that all families deserve to know and understand what their children are learning about especially when it comes to culture because we know that if families are excluded change cannot and will not happen.
If change is to happen it can’t be done in silos, it can’t be done alone, it has to be done as a collective and it has to be done together.
The Connecting the Dots through Culture team has put the challenge out to each and every one of you leading up to and during National Reconciliation Week, we are asking you…
’What does Reconciliation mean to you?’
Bravely start conversations which allows everyone involved to Be Brave Make Change.
